Terms

Conditions of Business

Review, external provision, payment and liability, set out in full.

Application of These Terms

The terms below govern requests submitted through cmmcalibrationpittsburgh.com, the quotations issued in response, and the performance of CMM Calibration and Repair and related work arranged through this site. Either a request submitted or a quotation accepted is acceptance of them. Where a signed supply agreement or agreed purchase-order terms are already in place, those take precedence over these terms to the extent of any conflict.

Current version: 9 October 2026.

Review of Requests, Tenders and Contracts

A review precedes every quotation. It confirms that the requirement has been stated clearly and is understood, that the method, range and measurement capability needed are on hand, and that the laboratory selected to carry out the work is competent to perform it.

Where a statement of conformity is required, the decision rule to be applied and the specification the item is assessed against are both agreed in writing before work begins. A requirement that changes after acceptance is confirmed to the customer before work continues, with the review repeated. A request that cannot be met as specified is declined, or returned with an alternative scope — it is never quietly reduced and accepted as though nothing changed.

Externally Provided Services

Every technical service described on this site is externally provided. Pittsburgh CMM Calibration and Repair operates cmmcalibrationpittsburgh.com as a marketing and referral website; it is not itself a calibration laboratory and does not perform the measurements itself. Each request submitted through this site is passed to an external laboratory that holds its own accreditation, operates its own quality management system, and issues its own certificates and reports.

Four criteria decide which provider receives the work: current accreditation and the scope of it, demonstrated capability for the specific measurement requested, traceability arrangements, and record of on-time delivery. Performance against them is monitored on an ongoing basis, and a provider that ceases to meet them is not used. Where a customer instructs that work must not be subcontracted, that instruction is honored or the request is declined.

For that introduction the operator of this website is paid — a referral fee, a fixed fee for the use of this website, or a commission on work that is placed. It is stated plainly so that the commercial relationship behind the site is not left implicit. The price quoted is not altered by it, and it gives the operator no role in performing, approving or certifying any measurement.

Quotations and Validity

Quotations are written documents, valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue unless a different period appears on the quotation. Each is built from what the request supplied: the item description, the quantity, the measurement points, the tolerances and the turnaround.

Every quotation rests on the item being as described. Additional channels, a wider range, damage, or a condition needing repair before measurement is possible all change that, and work is held while a revised quotation is issued. It proceeds once the revision is approved in writing.

Turnaround Times

Turnaround is quoted in business days and runs from receipt of the item or receipt of written approval to proceed, whichever is later. Expedited handling is available where capacity allows and is quoted separately. Turnaround commitments are given in good faith against current capacity. Where one cannot be met, notice is given as soon as the delay is known — with a revised date.

Items, Packaging and Risk

Packaging adequate for transit, plus any accessories, fixtures, cables or software needed to complete the work, travels with the item. Carriage not arranged and charged on the quotation leaves transit risk, in both directions, with the customer.

An item that is unsafe, contaminated, or outside the condition accepted at review goes back unworked, with the reason stated. Once the collection or despatch period agreed on the quotation passes, a completed item sits at the customer's risk.

Payment Terms

Unless a credit account has been approved in advance, payment is due in full before certificates and items are released. Where credit terms have been approved, invoices are payable net thirty (30) days from the date of invoice.

Prices exclude taxes, duties and carriage unless the quotation states otherwise. Overdue balances may accrue interest at the lower of one and one-half percent (1.5%) per month or the maximum permitted by law. Further work may be suspended while an account is overdue.

Certificates, Reports and Ownership

Certificates and reports are issued by the laboratory performing the work, and they remain that laboratory's technical record. Once paid in full, the customer gains an unrestricted right to keep, copy and use the certificate for its own quality, audit and regulatory purposes.

A certificate is a complete document, reproducible only in full; partial reproduction needs written approval. The performing laboratory retains copies for the period set out in its records policy and reissues against the original certificate number.

Confidentiality of the Engagement

Information obtained or created in the course of a request is treated as confidential. Drawings, specifications, tolerances, measurement results and the existence of the engagement itself are made available only to the personnel and providers who need them to complete the work, or where disclosure is required by law or by an accreditation body exercising its rights of access. Where the law requires disclosure, the customer is notified unless that notification is itself prohibited.

Limitation of Liability

Methods and standards stated on the quotation and on the resulting certificate govern how work is performed, with reasonable skill and care throughout. Where it proves defective, the remedy — at the customer's election — is either re-performance of the affected work or a refund of the amount paid for it.

The cap on total liability, applied to the maximum extent permitted by law, is the amount paid for the work giving rise to the claim. No liability attaches to loss of profit, loss of production, loss of contract, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing stated here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Law, Forum and Revision

Any claim arising under these terms is brought in the courts of Pennsylvania, unless a different forum has been agreed in writing, and the laws of that jurisdiction govern these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

These terms are open to revision, and the version published at cmmcalibrationpittsburgh.com on the date a quotation is issued is the one that applies to that engagement. Related terms sit in the website privacy notice, the disclaimer and the complaints and appeals policy.
